Tualatin, Oregon, May 3, 2009 – VJ Books recognizes award-winning novelist Lee Child as March 2010 Favorite Author.
Lee Child is the author of fourteen Jack Reacher thrillers, including the New York Times bestsellers Persuader, The Enemy, One Shot, and The Hard Way, and the #1 bestsellers Gone Tomorrow, Bad Luck and Trouble, and Nothing to Lose. His debut, Killing Floor, won both the Anthony and the Barry awards for Best First Mystery, and The Enemy won both the Barry and Nero awards for Best Novel. All titles have been optioned for major motion pictures.
Lee has two new novels scheduled to release in 2010 – 61 Hours and one with a yet “unknown title”. 61 Hours will go on sale in the U.S. May 2010.
In 61 hours, a tour bus crashes in a savage snowstorm and lands Jack Reacher in the middle… of a deadly confrontation. In nearby Bolton, South Dakota, one brave woman is standing up for justice in a small town threatened by sinister forces. If she’s going to live long enough to testify, she’ll need help because a killer is coming to Bolton-a coldly proficient assassin who never misses. Reacher’s original plan was to keep on moving. But the next 61 hours will change everything. The secrets are deadlier and his enemies are stronger than he could have guessed-but so is the woman whose life he’ll risk his own to save.
Lee Child has also written numerous short stories. Thriller is the first collection of pure thriller stories with Lee’s first and, so far only, Jack Reacher short story, James Penney’s New Identity. Thriller also includes stories by David Morrell, John Lescroart, Chris Mooney, James Grippando, Denise Hamilton, J.A. Konrath, Christopher Rice, Gayle Lynds, and Alex Kava.
Lee edited Killer Year, an anthology of short stories by 13 debut crime writers: Robert Gregory Browne, Toni McGee Causey, Marcus Sakey, Derek Nikitas, Marc Lecard, JT Ellison, Brett Battles, Jason Pinter, Bill Cameron, Sean Chercover, Patry Francis, Gregg Olsen, and Dave White. Each story is prefaced by an introduction from their mentor, such as Lee Child, Tess Gerritsen or Jeffrey Deaver, plus additional stories by Ken Bruen, Allison Brennan and Duane Swierczynski, and essays by Laura Lippman and MJ Rose.
Lee was born in 1954 in Coventry, England, but spent his formative years in the nearby city of Birmingham. Child has three homes-an apartment in Manhattan, a country house in the south of France, and whatever airplane cabin he happens to be in while traveling between the two. He spends his spare time reading, listening to music, and watching the Yankees, Aston Villa, or Marseilles soccer. He is married with a grown-up daughter.
