Exciting New British Authors!

We have had a great season of debut books coming from British authors.  S. J. Watson’s BEFORE I GO TO SLEEP arrived first, a thriller bringing a unique voice, and vivid characterization, with suspense that will keep you reading until the wee hours of the morning.  Next came PRINCE OF THORNS, a stunning fantasy debut, the first volume in a powerful new epic fantasy trilogy, original, absorbing and challenging.  This was followed by SPYCATCHER by Matthew Dunn, an espionage thriller told by a real, true-life, former British spy.  His perspective has created superspy Will Cochrane, MI6s top asset.

Now we bring you SANCTUS by Simon Toyne, another newcomer from across the pond.  “One man’s sacrifice shocks the world . . . One woman’s courage threatens a conspiracy as old as mankind . . . and some will do anything – anything – to keep their secrets in the dark.”  Brad Meltzer finds Sanctus “Frightening, ruthless, and relentlessly entertaining.”  Sanctus is Simon Toyne’s first novel in the greatly anticipated Sanctus Trilogy, an explosive apocalyptic thriller from a major new British talent that will set the world alight.  Released in 19 languages in over 30 countries, Sanctus will be one of the biggest books of the year.

John Shares an Email from Brad Meltzer about “Decoded”

Dated:  12/1/2010

Tomorrow is the night — when we launch our new TV show — Brad Meltzer’s Decoded (still best title ever) on Thursday at 10pm/9c on the History Channel.  Considering that six years ago, we launched our first TV project — Jack & Bobby — to a grand total of fourteen viewers, I guess I’m supposed to say that we can outdo that number.  But honestly — considering I’m ON CAMERA for this one?  I’m actually not so sure.

Regardless, let me just again say thank you for believing in us, no matter the medium.  Yes, tomorrow Cori will be sending out a new clip of the show, and we’d really appreciate it if you could paste it on your facebook page/blog/wherever — send and share it with your friends — and tell them that your pal Brad has a TV show.

But again, more than anything else, thanks for being such a beautiful part of our lives.

Oh, and as for decoder rings, I promise you, I’m STILL working on them.  Can you believe nobody makes secret decoder rings (unless they’re cheap, plastic and crappy)?  So we’re trying to make them now to be ready for the book tour of The Inner Circle in January.  Toes crossed and all that.

Brad Meltzer's The Book of Lies

When a homeless man with a gunshot wound is revealed to be Calvin Harper’s long-lost father, Cal must scramble his resources while dealing with a watershed of emotions.  Father and son are drawn into a mystery involving the recovery of the supposed murder weapon Cain used in the Bible.  Hints eventually lead them to seek out the remnants of Superman creator Jerry Siegel and solve the mystery behind the death of Siegel’s father.  Meltzer executes another spellbinding tale that continually keeps readers guessing, along with a good mix of biblical and comic book lore.
